FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does acupuncture hurt?

Once needles are quickly and gently inserted the patients relax. Many people report sensations of movement of energy within their bodies. Patients may report a slight achiness around some points, or a warmth or even an itch. Those a good signs that the points are appropriate to the treatment.

PActupuncture3How long will my session last?

Intakes and follow up check-ins are very brief (see the clinic welcome letter when you download our paper work). Once the needles are in place, patients can rest as long as they feel they need to rest in treatment.

If I have a cold or feel under the weather, should I cancel my treatment?

No, acupuncture offers so much more than pain management. Chinese Medicine is a whole system of medicine unto itself, and can treat the common cold and flu-like symptoms.

How will I feel after my treatment?

Relaxed and refreshed. It is common for patients to feel tired after treatment and require some extra sleep later in the day or that evening. Everyone’s results are different. Most patients can get treated and go back to their daily activities right after treatment.

How many treatments will I need to get better?

This depends on what you are being treated for. Acupuncture is a PROCESS. It is very rare for any acupuncturist to resolve a problem in one treatment. For chronic conditions we may need to see you up to three times in a week. As your symptoms improve, and your symptom free state remains stable, we can gradually taper off your treatments to a maintenance plan of once a week of every other week.

What happens to the needles after my treatment?

All needles are disposable and are single use. After your treatment they are placed in a SHARPS container and are later sent to a company that can dispose of them properly.
