Frequently Asked Questions

Does Acupuncture hurt?

Once needles are quickly and gently inserted most people comfortably dose or drift off. You may feel a slight prick while the needles are going in that quickly dissipates. During the treatment many people report sensations of movement of energy, slight achiness, or warmth within their bodies. Acupuncture is most often a pleasant and even euphoric experience.

How long will my session last?

We recommend patients rest with the needles in for about 45 minutes. For the first appointment leave yourself about an hour and a half for the total time at the clinic. After the first appointment most patients are in and out the door in about an hour.

If I have a cold or feel under the weather, should I cancel my treatment?

If you are not feeling well it is ok for you to come in to get a treatment. We ask that you take a covid test beforehand if applicable. You may be asked to wear a mask and we may put you in a separate room as a precaution.

If you are covid positive we ask that you remain home and do not come to the clinic until you are no longer contagious.

How will I feel after my treatment?

Most people feel relaxed and refreshed after Acupuncture. Most patients can go back to their normal daily activities after their treatment.

How many treatments will I need to get better?

This depends on what you are being treated for and how severe the condition is. Acupuncture is a process. We generally make frequency recommendations based on a pain scale. If your pain or condition is 5/10 or worse on a pain scale we may recommend you come in 2-3 times or more per week until your pain is at a manageable level. If your pain or condition is less than 5/10 on a pain scale we may recommend you come in 1 or 2 times per week. As your symptoms improve we gradually taper off your treatments.

What happens to the needles after my treatment?

All needles are single use and disposable. After your treatment, needles are placed in a sharps container and are later sent off to be disposed of properly.

How can you treat the back of my body from the recliner?

We have many points available from the recliner chair position to effectively treat all areas of the body.
