Happy August everyone! I admit that August can be a conflicting month for me. At this point in summer, I start to feel done with the heat and humidity. The freshness of summer has worn off and everything feels a bit past its peak. On the other hand, I never want summer to end. I want to continue sunbathing, swimming, and doing all the other summer activities I love.

Fortunately, the end of August brings many gifts. One of them is the grapes growing at the clinic. If you don’t know them, they are Concord grapes and they are delicious. Stop by and grab a few. One of my fig trees at home is having a boom year. My Muscadines are coming in ripe now as well. All around, this time of year brings a bounty of seasonal delicious foods.

I’m sad to see the end of summer but also eagerly awaiting the first feel of a cool autumn breeze arriving soon.

However you feel about this time of year, I hope you are enjoying it.

We get a lot of questions about the art at the clinic and so I would like to focus this newsletter on our collection. I have been very fortunate to acquire some special pieces over the years. Here is a spotlight on some of our favorite art pieces:

Cranes- by Kirsten Elliot.

These are five overlapping stencils and spray paint. What a talented artist! I commissioned Kirsten to make this piece for the clinic over 10 years ago and still love looking at this piece every time I’m at the clinic. Kirsten’s contact info is Kirstenelliot83@gmail.com

Cardinals and triptic bird set by Max Feist.

One of my favorite artists. I have a lot of their stuff at my home as well. Max was Asheville based for a very long time and is now located in Savannah GA.

This is a print of a mural that lives in a Working Class Acupuncture clinic in Portland, OR

Plants are a kind of art too.

The clinic plants come from many different places. A lot of the larger plants come from BB Barnes. Plants are maintained by Leah, our lovely clinic administrator.

With love and Care,
Aimee
