Acupuncture can be extremely helpful with back pain, hip pain and sciatica. I would say those, along with shoulder and neck pain, are some of the most common things we treat.
Many people ask how we can treat something like a bulging disk or a pinched nerve. This is one of the wonders of Acupuncture. Acupuncture is remarkable at alleviating pain and promoting healing. I have had multiple people crawl through the front door into the treatment room of the clinic unable to stand or walk due to extreme back pain. These same people often walk out on their own two feet at the end of the treatment. In a case like that, I would definitely recommend they come back the next day, if possible, and perhaps every day after that for the next few days or week depending on how they progress.

People also often ask, “How many treatments will it take?” The answer to this is it depends. It depends on how long you have had this issue, if you have scar tissue from surgeries or injuries, what line of work you are in, how taxed your body is, your age, severity of pain etc. What I typically see is a slow notching down of the level of discomfort. After the first or second treatment, I want to hear you say that you slept through the night or were able to skip a pain medication dose or were able to walk a bit further. And then we expand from there, decreasing the level and duration of discomfort.
